Could AI soon become as essential to our daily routines as our morning coffee?
OpenAI just announced the launch of GPT-4o mini, a cost-efficient and compact version of its flagship GPT-4o model — aimed at expanding AI accessibility for developers and businesses. This new model is designed to make artificial intelligence more accessible and affordable, significantly expanding the range of applications that can benefit from AI technology.
Highlights:
Performance:Â GPT-4o mini scores 82% on MMLU and outperforms GPT-4 on chat preferences in LMSYS leaderboard.
Cost Efficiency:Â Priced at 15 cents per million input tokens and 60 cents per million output tokens, making it more than 60% cheaper than GPT-3.5 Turbo.
Capabilities:Â Supports text and vision in the API with future plans for image, video, and audio inputs and outputs. It has a context window of 128K tokens and supports up to 16K output tokens per request.
Safety:Â Built-in safety measures include filtering unwanted content and using techniques like reinforcement learning with human feedback to ensure accurate and reliable responses.
Availability:Â GPT-4o mini is available in the Assistants API, Chat Completions API, and Batch API. It will replace GPT-3.5 for ChatGPT Free, Plus, and Team users, and will be available to Enterprise users next week.
Industry Use Cases:Â Companies like Ramp and Superhuman have already found GPT-4o mini to perform significantly better than GPT-3.5 Turbo for tasks such as extracting structured data from receipt files and generating high-quality email responses from thread history.
